Queens Park Primary School
Queens Park Primary School was established in 1905 as Woodlupine School in a nearby community hall. It was relocated to its present site in 1906 and renamed Queens Park Primary in the 1920’s. It is a beautiful, well maintained school with lovely grounds.
Queens Park Primary School have a strong focus on preparing children academically. ‘Strength through knowledge’ delivers the focus for providing a curriculum that will ensure their students are well prepared to fulfil their aspirations. It is more than a motto – it underpins every teaching and learning task undertaken at Queens Park Primary School.
Literacy and numeracy are of critical importance, and teaching these has a whole school focus. All the staff have supported this approach and are starting to see some fantastic student achievement.
The curriculum also recognises that developing their student’s self-esteem, decision-making skills and ability to take responsibility is vital. They teach these through empowerment and positive reinforcement.
This is a school that believes children learn best when they feel safe to try so when they do make mistakes, they are helped to understand what can be learnt from the experience. Most importantly they are quick to applaud their success.
Their philosophy is to nurture the ‘whole’ child, and equip them for life.
Whilst the traditional heritage of our site is valued and celebrated, ensuring our students have facilities that enhance learning and participation is vital. A new music room, art room and library are recent building additions.
The school is relatively small, with about 200 students, making it very friendly and family focused. Every child has their place there, and diversity is celebrated.
