St Joseph’s Primary School
Located on Railway Parade in Queens Park, St Joseph’s celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2015.
St Joseph’s is a double stream, co-educational, Catholic Primary School, catering for students from pre- kindergarten to year 6.
It was established by the Mercy Order of Sisters and many of their foundation principles underpin the traditions of the school. One of these traditions is the care and concern for each and every individual of the St Joseph’s Community; student, staff and parents. Gospel values of truth, justice, endurance, dignity, charity, peace and compassion remain central to our teachings and practices.
St Joseph’s is a faith sharing community with close links to the parish. The Parish coordinates the Sacramental Program in close liaison with the school. Children complete Reconciliation in Year 3, First Communion in Year 4 and Confirmation in Year 6.
Students have access to an up to date computer lab, modern library and specialist teachers in physical education (pre-primary – year 3) and Italian (year 3-6). Children have the option of participating in a number of School and Interschool Carnivals and are fortunate to have access to St Norbert’s College swimming pool for training. A combined swimming club called The Saints is an initiative between the College and St Joseph’s. The children also have a performing arts teacher and have performed at an extremely high level in dance, choir, bible reading, drama and Christian drama.
A comprehensive Capital Development Plan has recently been completed providing outstanding classroom and facilities where staff and students feel safe and are able to reach their potential.
Principal Peter Yensch support and encourage parents to extend their child’s education beyond primary school through to St Norbert’s College.
