  •  The McGowan Government is investing in health for Cannington residents.
  • Funding for Bentley Maternity Ward and Royal Perth Hospital; Cannington’s nearest tertiary hospital.
  •  Upgrades to RPH include WA’s first Urgent Care Clinic

The McGowan Labor Government has proven it’s health credentials to Cannington residents.

The recent announcement of funding certainty for Bentley Maternity Unit is illustrative of the government’s commitment to putting patients first.

Additionally, extensive upgrades to Royal Perth Hospital will improve access to services for our community.
RPH is the closest Tertiary Hospital and emergency department for much of the Cannington electorate.

WA’s first Urgent Care Clinic (Toxicology) at the RPH Emergency Department will provide specialised services for people with behavioural disturbances, usually affected by drugs and alcohol. This will have the added benefit of taking pressure of emergency departments.

The Urgent Care Clinic will be open long hours, bulk bill and won’t require appointments.

Additionally, this year’s State Budget includes $11.8 million to build a Mental Health Observation Area at RPH, which will offer a comprehensive suite of psychiatric services.

Comments by Bill Johnston MLA, Member for Cannington:

“The McGowan Labor Government is putting patients first.
“Urgent Care Clinics will give patients more choice and reduce waiting times
“Urgent Care Clinics are well placed to deal with things like minor injuries and illnesses, sports injuries and skin, eye and ear conditions.
